Bristol Water Museum & Longshaw Seedbank

Longshaw Seedbank

The project was to design a seedbank at Longshaw Estate to educate visitors on the surrounding environment as well as the life cycle of trees and plants. The seedbank represents the journey of seed, starting underground at the seed stores and finishing in the educational space, high in the forest canopy overlooking the diverse landscape. The ground floor of the building is underground, disguising the seedbank into the landscape, whilst the first floor is cladded in timber ‘off-cuts’ to minimise waste and to mimic the look of bark, blending it into the adjacent forest.

Bristol Water Museum

The Water Museum is based in Bristol City centre next to the notorious floating harbour. The museum has a distinctive active facade which ripples throughout the day, opening and closing the system to cool the building as the sun moves around the building. The building allows users to experience different themes surrounding water in Bristol and how this may affect the planets future.
