A Centre for Listening and Interaction

Drawing on research methods such as mapping, audio medium and interviewing, the Centre for Listening acts as a platform for SADACCA (Sheffield and District African Caribbean Community Association) to tell their story. The design proposal offers spaces for everyone, whether they seek learning and socialising with other cultures, silence and reflection, or bird songs. Demonstrating how we can live alongside nature by incorporating it into our designs, A Centre for Listening and Interaction illustrates how these small changes can positively impact our mental health as well as encourage a more diverse range of bird species into our urban spaces. This scheme would patch up existing fragmented wildlife habitats, whilst bringing existing communities together in our fight against climate change, acting as a model for future architects to design with their ears more.
