The Cities Portal acts as a gateway to PWS through exploring how we as architects have a moral responsibility to not only design aesthetically pleasing buildings, but how we can use our privileged positions to encourage sustainable, biodiversity driven projects which responds to their specific site, environmentally, economically, and functionally. Through retrofitting the existing Mill on site, this scheme acts as an experimentation to showcase what we as architects can achieve environmentally, alongside the regular specification of a client, whilst acting as a catalyst for change at not only the design level, but also at the legislation / regulation level.
